Yarn And Hook Information
We created this cute mini crochet octopus pattern using #3 light worsted-weight yarn with 12 wraps per inch (WPI). However, you can experiment with different yarn weights and textures to make these.
You can make amigurumi octopuses in different sizes in different yarn weights and hook sizes.
For example, create tiny, cute ones with #1 super fine or #2 sport yarn, or make large, cuddly versions with softer, plush yarns like chenille in #6 super bulky or #7 jumbo yarn weights.

What You Will Need
Yarn
We used #3 Light (DK, or 8ply) yarn with 12 WPI (wraps per inch).
- Color of choice - 22 yards (20 meters)
Crochet Hook
- 4mm (G/6) hook for the body
- 3.5mm (E/4) hook for tentacles
Notions
- Stitch marker
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- 2 x 9mm safety eyes
- Fiberfill stuffing
- 15 cm of black embroidery yarn for the mouth
- 15 cm light pink worsted weight yarn for checks (optional)
Finished Size

When made with #3 light yarn our mini octopus measures about 1.25 inches (3.3cm) tall. Using different yarn weights and hook sizes will give different sizes.
Gauge
The gauge is not important for this project, but making sure the stitches are tight with little gap between them.
Having tight close stitches prevents the stuffing from peeking through.
If you notice that the holes between the stitches are too big, consider using a smaller hook size to achieve tighter stitches.
