About This Crochet Blanket
- This easy crochet baby blanket is slightly larger than a stroller blanket it is the perfect size for a child of any age.
- You could even make this blanket into a lap blanket with the addition of a few extra stitches in the foundation row.
- The blanket pattern is worked using 2 strands of #3 light yarn and a 12 mm hook, and it is thick and soft to the feel.
- If the only stitches you know are how to make a chain stitch and single crochet, then you can make this blanket. You can learn more about these stitches in our Crochet Stitch section below.
- This pattern has a few yarn color changes, so there will be some weaving in of yarn ends once the blanket is complete.
- This is a free crochet pattern. You can find a printable pattern card at the end of this post.
Crochet Stitches
This crochet blanket uses only two simple stitches chain stitch and single crochet.
Yarn Used For This Blanket
I used Birch knitting #3 light (DK, light worsted, 8py) yarn, which is 70% acrylic and 30% polyester, in two colors: Blue Dream (which is variegated blue) and white.
I wanted a nice thick and soft blanket so I chose to make the blanket using two strands of yarn and a 12mm (O-16).
I used a total of 4 variegated blue skeins and 2 in white, each skein is about 3.5 ounces (100 grams) and 295 yards (270 meters).
I worked the blanket in different yarn stand combinations to break away from the harshness of using variegated blue.
If you can't find this yarn, use another brand in similar colors and weight to get a similar effect.
