Crochet Granny Square With Flower Center

This crochet granny square with flower center is easy to create. It is a big square and is great for making large items such as blankets, pillows, and other projects.

What You Will Need

Yarn

  • We used a #3 Light (also known as light worsted, DK, or 8ply) yarn weight, with 12 WPI (wraps per inch)

Hook

  • 5mm (H/5)hook.
  • Note - You can use another yarn weight and use the hook size recommended on the yarn label.

Notions

  • Scissors
  • Yarn Needle

Finished Size

  • This large granny square measures about 8 inches (20 cm), wide and unblocked, when made in the yarn weight and hook size mentioned above.

  • ch - chain

Special Stitches

  • PC -  5dc in st, remove hk from the loop, insert hk into 1st dc made, with hk pick up the loop of last dc, and draw through loop on hk.

Pattern Notes

  • This pattern starts with a chain 4 ring but you could also start it with a magic ring.

  • Foundation - Ch4, sl st into 1st ch to join.
  • Rnd 1 - Ch1 (not counted as a st), 8sc into ring, sl st into 1st sc to join. [8sc]
