Fall Crochet Scarf

If you want a fast and easy crochet scarf that looks great! This free fall crochet scarf pattern is a good choice because it is simple to make and perfect for beginners.
Made in the crochet block stitch, this scarf has a lovely vertical block design that looks complicated, but it is not.

What You Will Need

Yarn

  • #3 light (DK, light worsted, 8ply) 100% acrylic yarn or similar.
  • Color A, about 76.55 yards (70 meters) of light blue yarn.
  • Color B, about 76.55 yards (70 meters) of cream yarn.
  • Color C, about 76.55 yards (70 meters) of yellow yarn.
  • Color D, about 76.55 yards (70 meters) of orange yarn.
  • Color E, about 76.55 yards (70 meters) of red yarn.
  • Color F, about 76.55 yards (70 meters) of navy yarn.

Hook

  • 4.5mm crochet hook or size to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions

  • Scissors
  • Yarn Needle

Gauge

  • 21 double crochets and 13 rows of the pattern = 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm) square using a 4.5 mm hook.

Finished Size

  • Scarf is about 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide and 84 inches (213cm) long (this does not include the fringe).

Pattern Notes

Instructions

  • Foundation, color A -  Ch31.
  • Row 1 - Sc in 2nd ch from the hk, sc in next st, ch2 * sk 2-sts, ch2, 1sc in the next st, rpt from * 8 more times, 1sc in last st, turn. [9 ch-2 sps] 
  • Row 2 - Ch1 (not counted as a st), dc into sc, then * (3dc) in each of the next 9 ch-2 sps, 1 dc in last sc, turn. [29dc]
  • Row 3 - Ch1 (not counted as a st), sc into dc, sc in next sp * ch2, sk-3dc, sc into sp, rpt from * 8 more times, sc in last st, turn. [11sc and 9 x ch-2 spcs] 
  • Repeat rows 2 and 3 following the color changes as listed below.
    Work 20 rows in each color:
  • Rows 1 - 20 - Color A (light blue)
    Rows 21 - 40 - Color B (white)
    Rows 41 - 60 - Color C (yellow)
    Rows 61 - 80 - Color D (orange)
    Rows 81 - 100 - Color E (red)
    Rows 101 - 120 - Color F (navy)
    Rows 121 - 140 - Color A (light blue)
    Rows 141 - 160 - Color B (white)
    Rows 161 - 180 - Color C (yellow)
    Rows 181 - 200 - Color D (orange)
    Rows 201 - 220 - Color E (red)
