Halloween Crochet Eyeball Coaster Pattern

Create spooky Halloween eyeball crochet coasters with this super easy crochet pattern!
These fun coasters work up quickly and use less than 10 yards (9 meters) of each color, making them perfect for craft fairs or classroom gifts.
Use #2 fine cotton yarn for the best results—it is great for absorbing spills and withstanding heat.

What You Will Need

Yarn

  • #2 light (sport, baby, 5-ply) yarn with about 16 WPI (wraps per inch) in the following colors: Per coaster, you will need:
  • Color A (black) - 1.6 yards (1.5 meters)
  • Color B (dark green) - 1.6 yards (1.5 meters)
  • Color C (lime green) - 5.5 yards (5 meters)
  • Color D (white) - 9.8 yards (9 meters)
  • Color E (red) - 3.4 yards (3.1 meters)

Hook

  • 4mm

Gauge

  • The gauge is not so important for this pattern.

Finished Size

  • The finished size of this crochet coaster is about 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter when made in the yarn weight and hook size stated above.

Special Stitches

  • SPsc Insert your hook into the base of the next stitch (for this pattern it will be into the base of the stitch in round 5). Yarn over and pull up a loop, extending the loop to the height of the current round. Yarn over again and pull through both loops on the hook.

Instructions

  • Rnd 1, col A - Into a MR, ch2 (not counted as a st), 12dc into the ring, pull yarn tail tight to close ring, sl st into 1st dc to join, cut yarn, fasten off, and weave in ends. [12dc]
  • Rnd 2, col B - Slip knot yarn to hk, sl st yarn into any st. Ch1 (not counted as a st), 2sc in same sp as ch-1, * 2sc in next st, rpt from * 11 times, sl st into 1st sc to join, cut yarn, fasten off and weave in ends. [24sc]
  • Rnd 3, col C - Slip knot yarn to hk, sl st yarn into any st. Ch1 (not counted as st), 2hdc in same st as ch-2, 1hdc in next st, * 2hdc in next st, 1hdc in next, rpt from * 11 times, sl st into 1st dhc to join, cut yarn, fasten off and weave in ends. [36hdc]
  • Rnd 4, col D - white - Slip knot yarn to hk, sl st yarn into any st. Ch2 (not counted as a st), 1dc in the same sp as ch-2, 1dc in next 35-sts, sl st into 1st dc to join. [36dc]
  • Rnd 5 -  Ch2 (not counted as a st), 2dc in same sp as ch2, 1dc in next 2-sts, *2dc in next st, 1dc in next 2-sts, rpt from * 11 times, sl st into 1st dc to join. [48dc]
  • Rnd 6, col E - Slip knot yarn to hk, sl st yarn into any st. Ch1 (not counted as a st), 1sc in same sp as ch-1, 1sc in next 2-sts, a SPsc into the base of next st, *1sc in next 3-sts, SPsc the into base of next st, rpt from * 11 times, sl st into 1st sc to join, cut yarn, fasten off weave in ends.   • Finish - Depending on your tension the coasters may curl up a little, this can easily be fixed, by steam-blocking them. Place the coasters wrong side up onto the ironing board, cover with a cloth, and gently press with a steam iron.
