In this easy crochet stitch pattern tutorial, for horizontal fpsc rib stitch, you will learn a simple 2 row repeat pattern that can be used to make warm blankets, scarves, hats and more.
The crochet stitch pattern uses single crochet stitches, and front post single crochet stitches, this combination makes a nice thick and warm textured fabric, that looks similar to rib stitch only horizontal.

Instructions

  • Foundation – Chain and odd number of stitches.
  • Row 1 – 1 single crochet in 2nd chain from hook, 1 single crochet in each stitch across, chain 1 and turn. The stitch count for this row will be an even number of stitches, one less than what you started with in the foundation chain.
  • Row 2 – Front post single crochet (fpsc) around each stitch to the end, this will end up being an uneven number (one less than row 1), then make 1 single crochet into the chain 1 stitch of the previous row, chain 1, and turn. The stitch count will be the same number as row 1.
  • Row 3 – 1 single crochet in each stitch to the end, the last stitch to be made in the chain 1 of previous row, chain 1, turn. The stitch count will be the same as row 1.
  • Keep repeating rows 2 and 3.
