What You Will Need

Yarn

  • #3 light (light worsted, DK, 8ply) cotton blend or 100% cotton yarn, in two contrasting colors.
  • Yarn needed per coaster
  • Color A - cream, about 12 yards (11 meters)
  • Color B - blue, about 12 yards (11 meters)
  • Yarn for basket
  • The basket is worked with three strands of yarn - two strands of color A and one strand in Color B.
  • Color A - cream, about 32 yards (30 meters)
  • Color A - cream, about 32 yards (30 meters)
  • Color B - brown, about 32 yards (30 meters)

Hook

  • Coasters - use a 4.5mm crochet hook.
  • Basket - use a 5 mm (H-8) crochet hook.

Finished Size

  • The finished size coasters are about 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter.
  • The finished size basket is about 5.5 inches (14 cm) in diameter and 2.36 inches (6 cm) high.

Instructions

Coaster Pattern

  • Foundation - MR, or ch4, sl st in 1st to form a ring.
  • Round 1 - Ch3 (does not counts as st) 12dc into ring, pull yarn tail tight to close circle, sl st in 1st dc to join. [12 dc]
  • Round 2 - Ch3 (does not count as a st), (2 dc) in next st, then *(2 dc) in the next st, rpt from * to the end, sl st into top of 1st dc to join. [24 dc]
  • Round 3 - Ch3 (does not count as a st), *(2dc) in next st, 1dc in next, rpt from * to the end, sl st into top of 1st dc to join. [36 dc]
  • Round 4 - Ch1, *sl st in next st, ch1, sl st in next st, ch 1 rpt from * to end, sl st into 1st sc. Cut yarn, fasten off, and weave in the ends.

Basket

  • Foundation - MR, or ch4, sl st in 1st to form a ring.
  • Round 1 - Ch3 (does not counts as st) 12 dc into ring, pull yarn tail tight to close circle, sl st in 1st dc to join. [12 dc]
