What You Will Need

Yarn

  • #3 light (DK, light worsted, 8ply) yarn with 12 WPI (wraps per inch)
  • Yellow (or alternative color) yarn - 27.4 yards (25 meters)

Hook

  • 4mm (G/6)

Notions

  • 2 x bangles (in a color to match or compliment the yarn color) about 2.5 inches (6.5cm) in diameter
  • Scissors
  • Yarn Needle

Gauge

  • The gauge is not so important for this pattern.

Finished Size

  • The finished size of the gift bag is about 5.5 inches (14cm) from the top of the handle to the base and 5 inches (12.5cm) wide.

Stitches and Abbreviations Used (US Terms)

  • ch - chain
  • sc - single crochet
  • hdc - half double crochet
  • BLO - back loop only
  • sl st - slip stitch
  • st/sts - stitch/stitches
  • [ ] - at the end of a row indicates the number of stitches in that row

Instructions

  • Row 1 - Tie the yarn to the bangle, sl st yarn to the bangle. Make 21sc sts onto the bangle, turn. [21sc]
  • Row 2 - Ch1 (not counted as a st), 1sc in each st to the end, turn. [21sc]
  • Row 3 - Ch2 (not counted as a st), 1hdc in BLO of each st to end, turn. [21hdc]
  • Rows 4-17 (14 rows) - same as row 3. The work should measure about 5.5 inches (14cm) long - if not, continue the pattern until the length is reached.
  • Row 18 - Ch1 (not counted as a st), 1sc in BLO of each st to end, turn. [21sc]
  • Row 19 Work this row around the 2nd bangle - Ch1 (not counted as a st), 1sc in each st to end, ch1, cut yarn leaving a long tail for sewing, fasten off. [21sc]

Finish

  • Fold the bag in half, aligning the handles. Thread the yarn tail onto a needle and sew along one side to close it. Fasten off and weave in the end. Then, sew closed the other side. Turn the bag inside out, and your bag is complete!
