What You Will Need

Yarn

  • #4 medium (worsted, Afgan, Aran, 10 ply) 100% acrylic yarn, or similar
  • This pattern is worked with two stands of yarn worsted yarn.
  • You will need two lots of yarn, each being 196.5 yards (180 meters) long in any color.
  • The overall total of yarn needed to make this basket is about 393 yards (360 meters).

Hook

  • 8mm (L-11)

Gauge

  • 10 single crochet stitches and 13 rows = 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10cm) square using a 8 mm hook.

Finished Size

  • This crochet basket with handles is about 8.5 inches (22 cm) in diameter and about 9 inches (23cm) high.

  • Round 36 - sc in next 12-st, then make sc in each of the 12ch-sts, sc in next 24st, then sc in each of the 12ch-sts, sc in next 12-sts. [72st]
  • Round 37 - Sc in each st around, sl st into next st. [72st]
  • Round 38 - RSC in each st around, cut yarn, and fasten off. [72st]

Finish

  • Pull the starting yarn tail tight to close the magic circle, then use a yarn needle to weave in the loose tail ends.
