What You Will Need

Yarn

  • 3-ply 100% crochet cotton yarn
  • Color A, base, about 4.7 yards (4.3 meters) of purple yarn.
  • Color B, frosting, about 7.22 yards (6.6 meters) of orange yarn.
  • Color C, flower, and strap about 4.8 yards (4.4 meters) of light green yarn.

Hook

  • 2.5 mm crochet hook.

  • Not important for this pattern

Finished Size

  • This crochet cupcake bookmark measures about 12 inches (32 cm) long and 3 inches (8cm) at the widest part of the cupcake.

Cupcake

  • Foundation Color A - Ch9.
  • Row 1 - 1hdc in 3rd ch from hk (turning chain not counted as a st), 1hdc in each st to the end, turn. [7hdc]
  • Row 2 - Ch2 (not counted as a st), 2hdc in same sp as ch-2, 1hdc in each of the next 5-sts, (2hdc) in the ch-2 of prev row, turn. [9hdc]
  • Row 3 - Ch2 (not counted as a st), 1hdc in same sp as ch-2, 1hdc in each of the next 7-sts, 1hdc in the ch-2 of prev row, turn. [9hdc]
  • Row 4 - Ch2 (not counted as a st), 2hdc in same sp as ch-2, 1hdc in each of the next 7-sts, (2hdc) in the ch-2 of prev row, turn. [11hdc]
  • Row 5 - Ch2 (not counted as a st), 1hdc in same sp as ch-2, 1hdc in each of the next 9-sts, 1hdc in the ch-2 of prev row, turn. [11hdc]

  • Row 13 - Sl st in next 4-sts, ch3, 1dc into 5th dc in the row, ch2, sl st into next dc, ch1, cut yarn and fasten off.

Six petal flower decoration

  • Foundation, color C - Ch5, sl st into 1st ch to join and form a ring.
  • Round 1 - * Ch9, sl st into ring, rpt from * 5 more times, ch1, cut yarn and fasten off, weave in ends, and tack flower onto row 10 of cupcake. [6 x ch9 loops]

Bookmark Strap

  • Foundation, color C - Ch6, sl st into 1st st to join to form a ring.
  • Round 1, color C - ch3, then 6dc in the ring, 1tr, picot, 1tr, 6dc, sl st in top of 1st dc to join, ch60, sl st into the dc st at the top of the cupcake to join, ch1, cut yarn, fasten off and weave in ends.

Finish

  • Use a yarn needle to weave in the tail ends.
