Best Yarn For Bookmarks
I used 3-ply, 100% crochet cotton for these bookmarks, which is similar to #0 lace (light fingering, 10-count thread) yarn.
It is lightweight and makes delicate and fine stitches and won't make a thick or bulky bookmark.
You could also use #1 super fine and #2 fine yarns, these a slightly thicker but will still make a lightweight bookmark.
You could also use #3 light (DK, light worsted, 8-ply) yarn, but keep in mind these bookmarks will be thicker and chunkier and might not sit well between the pages.
I choose cotton yarn because it is fuzz-free, strong, and durable and it lays flat which is essential for bookmarks.
But you could also use another fiber like bamboo yarn or silk yarn and even acrylic yarn if you like the look of it.
Crochet Stitches
You will need to know a few basic crochet stitches to make this cupcake bookmark pattern, like chain stitch, double crochet, treble crochet and slip stitch.
Crochet Picot Stitch
The easy crochet project uses a picot stitch as a decorative feature. If you do not know how to make this read our blog post on how to crochet picot stitch to learn more.
