Stitches Used

You will need to know a few basic crochet stitches to make these corner heart bookmarks like chain stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet and slip stitch.

Crochet Picot Stitch

This easy crochet project uses a picot stitch as a decorative feature. If you do not know how to make this read our blog post on how to crochet picot stitch to learn more.

Yarn Used For This Heart Bookmark

I used 3-ply, 100% crochet cotton for these bookmarks, which is similar to #0 lace (light fingering, 10-count thread) yarn.

It is lightweight and makes delicate and fine stitches and won't make a thick or bulky bookmark.

You could also use #1 super fine and #2 fine yarns, these a slightly thicker but will still make a lightweight bookmark.

You could also use #3 light (DK, light worsted, 8-ply) yarn, but keep in mind these bookmarks will be thicker and chunkier and might not sit well between the pages.

I choose cotton yarn because it is fuzz-free, strong, and durable and it lays flat which is essential for bookmarks.

But you could also use another fiber like bamboo yarn or silk yarn and even acrylic yarn if you like the look of it.

Gift Idea

These crochet corner heart bookmarks would make lovely gifts for occasions like Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Christmas, and Bridal Showers just like this triple crochet heart bookmark, or these crochet granny heart coasters, or these crochet heart granny squares or any of these crochet heart pattern ideas.

Finishing

Two crocheted hearts pinned together.

Join the front and back hearts - Thread tail yarn onto a darning needle, and weave the thread back two stitches from the slip stitch join. This will be about 13 double crochet stitches from the center double crochet at the bottom point of the heart.

With the wrong sides facing, center the back heart onto the top heart.

Then sew both pieces together by stitching 13 stitches down to the center stitch at the bottom heart tip and then up 13 stitches on the other side, leaving the top edge open to create a pocket.

I'm working on the heart corner bookmark. I'm confused on Rd 1 Border. It refers to "next chain one space". However, there are no chain one spaces on Rd 2 within which you can stitch. What am I missing??? From the picture, it looks like there are stitches in the middle stitch of the group of 7 on Rd 2. ???

The instructions for Border 1 are so confusing. Kindly check and update. The spaces are not where you say they are..Even the beginning instructions for Border 1 seem to be wrongZ

Thank you for your feedback. The pattern has been thoroughly tested again and there are no errors in the instructions. That said, I understand Border 1 can be a bit tricky to interpret, so I’ve added additional detail to help clarify the steps. I appreciate you taking the time to comment.
