What Yarn To Use For Crochet Pouches
The best yarn to use for a crochet drawing pouch will depend on how you want your finished project to look.
Here are something you should consider when choosing a yarn for a crochet pouch:
Fiber content - If you want a drawstring bag that holds its shape when empty, stiff acrylic yarn would be a good choice. That is what I used for this pattern.
Or, if you want a soft bag that collapses when empty, you could use a soft yarn like cotton yarn.
Yarn weight - Choose the appropriate yarn weight for your desired pouch.
Worsted weight yarn is a common option for pouches, however, you could use bulky yarn for a chunkier-looking bag or sport weight for a lighter delicate-looking bag.
Texture - If you want your bag to have a specific texture or pattern choose a yarn to meet your requirements.
Washability - If your pouch is likely to get dirty and will require frequent washing, choose a yarn that can stand frequent washing.
Crochet Stitches
You will need to know a few basic crochet stitches to make these drawstring bags, like chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet, and slip stitch.
Front Loops (FLO) And Back Loops (BLO)
In this pattern, you will need to know the difference between the front or back loops of stitches. If you are not sure what this means, check out our blog post understanding front and back loops in crochet. It explains everything in a super easy way.
