- These crochet star coasters work up quickly and are a great beginner project.
- Once you have made a few of these and understand the pattern, you can make each in about 20 minutes.
- These coasters have a repetitive pattern, and increases are worked in every round because of this, you can easily increase the rounds to make a matching star table centerpiece, placemats, cushions, and more.

Finished Size

The size of each star coaster is about 5 ½ inches (13cm) from one tip to the next.

Foundation - Magic ring, or chain 4 and slip stitch into 1st chain to form a ring.
Abbreviated version
Foundation - MR, or ch4, sl st into 1st ch to form a ring.
Row One

Round 1 - Chain 6 (counts as 1 double crochet and 3 chain stitches), into the ring make * 1 double crochet, chain 3, repeat from * 3 more times, (tighten magic ring), then sl st into the top of chain 3 to join.
[You should have 5 double crochet stitches and 5 chain-3 spaces]
Abbreviated version
Round 1 - Ch6 (counts as 1dc, ch3), *1dc, ch3, rpt from * 3 more times, sl st into ch 3 to join. [5dc and 5 x ch-3 sps]
Row Two

Round 2 - Slip stitch into the chain 3 space, then chain 3 (this counts as 1 double crochet stitch), and make 2 double crochets, chain 3 and 3 double crochets in the same space.
* in the next space make 3 double crochets, chain 3 and 3 double crochets, repeat from * 3 more times, then slip stitch into the top of chain 3 to join.
[You should have 30 double crochet stitches and 5 x ch-3 spaces]

Round 2 - Sl st into 1st ch-3sp, ch3 (counts as a dc), 2 dc, ch3, 3dc in same sp, *in next sp (3dc, ch3, 3dc), rpt from * 3 more times, sl st in top of ch-3 to join.[30dc, 5x ch-3 sps]
Row Three

Round 3 - Slip stitch into the next 2 stitches, then slip stitch into the chain 3 space.
Next, into the space chain 3 (counts as double crochet), make 2 more double crochets, chain-3, and three double crochets.
Then, (push back the stitches just made, to reveal the top of the stitch in the row below - do this every time) make 1 double crochet in each of the next 2 stitches, then skip 2 stitches, make 1 double crochet in each of the next 2 stitches.
Next, * make 3 double crochets, chain 3, and 3 double crochets in the chain 3 space, then make 1 double crochet in each of the next 2 stitches.
Then skip 2 stitches, make 1 double crochet in each of the next 2 stitches, repeat from * 3 more times, and slip stitch into the top of chain 3 to join.
