  • One of the best things about this project is its versatility. You can customize the bag in any color to match the occasion or the recipient's favorite colors. Use bright, festive colors for the holidays or soft pastels for a more delicate look.
  • This crochet gift bag is an excellent way to make use of leftover yarn from other projects. You do not need a lot of yarn to complete this bag, so it is a cost-effective and eco-friendly way to create something beautiful from scraps.
  • If you're new to crocheting, this pattern is ideal for you. It is straightforward, using basic crochet stitches, and involves crocheting rows without any shaping.
  • One of the standout features of this crochet gift bag is how quickly it comes together. In less than half an hour, you can have a lovely, handmade bag ready to go. This makes it perfect for last-minute gifts or for when you need to whip up multiple bags for a party.
  • The use of bangles for handles adds a touch of elegance and uniqueness to the bag. It is a small detail that makes a big impact, giving the bag a polished and professional look.

Crochet Stitches

To crochet this small gift bag pattern, you will need to know how to chain stitch, single crochet, and half double crochet.

Front Loops (FLO) And Back Loops (BLO)

In this pattern, you will need to know the difference between the front or back loops of stitches. If you are not sure what this means, check out our blog post understanding front and back loops in crochet. It explains everything in a super easy way.

Yarn and Hook Information

We used acrylic #3 lightweight yarn to make these crochet gift bags and the recommended hook size.

However, other types and weights of yarn can be used. Keep in mind that you may need to adjust the number of stitches and rows to accommodate variations in yarn weight and hook size.

How To Crochet A Mini Bag

The pattern for this small crochet gift bag is simple. It begins with crocheting a number of stitches onto a bangle, followed by a series of half double crochet stitches worked in the back loops of the previous rows to create a ribbed effect.

Once the desired length is reached, the final round is crocheted around the second bangle handle, and the sides are sewn closed to complete the bag.

I repurposed bangles that I already had. But I think that you could by them online from places like ebay.
