The vertical raised post block stitch is a two row repeat pattern with a raised textured look. It's a simple crochet stitch for blankets.
This pattern is made by combining and alternating block stitch with stacked front post treble stitches.
The finished fabric has a textured look with vertical stacks of block stitches separated with double stacked front post cable stitch.
It does take a few rows to set up but after that it is just a matter of repeating two rows.
Stitches Used
This vertical raised post block stitch pattern uses only a few basic crochet stitches, making it perfect for beginners.
Stitches used:
- chain stitch (ch)
- single crochet (sc)
- double crochet (dc)
- treble crochet
- Front post double crochet (FPdc)
- Front post treble crochet (FPtr)
Yarn And Hook Information
For this tutorial, I used a small amount of #3 light (light worsted, DK, 8ply) acrylic yarn with about #14 wraps per inch * and the 4mm recommended hook.
*Wraps per inch (WPI) - measures yarn thickness by counting how many times the yarn wraps around a ruler in one inch. More wraps thinner yarn, while fewer wraps thicker yarn.
