Round 1 - Chain 3 (this counts as double crochet), then make 31 double crochets into the ring, and slip stitch on top of chain 3 to join.
[You should have 32 double crochets in this round]
Abbreviated version
Round 1 - Ch3 (counts as dc) 31dc in ring, sl st in top of ch-3 to join. [32dc]
Row Two
Round 2 - Chain 3, and 1 double crochet in the next stitch, chain 5, * skip a stitch, 1 double crochet in each of the next 3 stitches, chain 5, repeat from * 6 more times.
Skip 1 stitch and make 1 double crochet in the stitch next to chain 3, slip stitch in top of chain 3 to join.
