Pumpkin leaf and tendril

A crocheted leaf and tendril for pumpkin coaster.s

I have not included the instructions for making the leaf here. You can find written instructions for the pumpkin leaf and tendril on the printable pattern below.

If you need a step-by-step guide, see the full instructions on our pumpkin leaf pattern page.

Finishing

Pull the starting yarn tail tight to close the magic ring, use a darning needle to weave in the end secure it in place, and cut excess yarn.

Weave in the ends of the pumpkin stem.

Position the leaf and tendril at the base of the stem and at the top edge of the pumpkin.

Secure them in place with a few stitches, ensuring the tendril does not fall onto the pumpkin where the cup will sit.

When sewing the tendril in place, twist it a few times to the point where it meets the base of the leaf.

By twisting the tendril, you will avoid creating a straight edge on the tendril.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best crochet stitch for a coaster?

The best crochet stitch for a coaster depends on your personal preference and the look and feel or the coaster you want.

Experiment with different stitches and yarn weights to create coasters that match your style and decor.

But do keep in mind that coasters should be relatively sturdy to protect surfaces from moisture and heat, so choose a stitch that provides enough thickness and stability.
