This crochet Christmas granny square is perfect for beginners, with simple rows of basic crochet stitches. It has a festive look we made ours in red, green, and white, but it would look great in other colors too.

About This Christmas Granny Square
This pattern uses basic crochet stitches of double crochet and half double crochet crochet.

This classic granny square has been given a festive Christmas look using red, green, and white yarn. However, feel free to use colors that suit your holiday theme.
The last round is a border made with half double crochet stitches, but you can change this to single crochet, double crochet or opt to leave it off.

What You Will Need
Yarn
We used a #3 Light (light worsted, DK, 8ply) yarn weight, with 12 WPI (wraps per inch) in the following colors:
- Color A (white) - 9.8 yards (9 meters)
- Color B (red) - 11.5 yards (10.5 meters)
- Color B (green) - 5.5 yards (4.5 meters)
Hook
- We used a 3.5mm (E/4) hook.
Note - The recommended hook size for the yarn we used was 4mm, but we used a smaller 3.5mm hook. You can use another yarn weight and the recommended hook size, or go down a size for a tighter stitch.

This is a medium sized granny square that measures about 4.5 inches (11.5 cm) unblocked, using the yarn weight and hook size mentioned above.
