About This Easy Infinity Scarf
- This simple circle crochet scarf uses basic crochet stitches and is easy to construct.
- This lightweight infinity scarf pattern uses 4-medium worsted-weight yarn and is very easy to make with a simple one-row repeat pattern.
- This scarf has a lovely ribbed look that looks great on both sides.
- It is light and super soft to the touch because it is crocheted with a larger hook than recommended on the yarn label.
- This easy infinity scarf is worked lengthwise in long rows to create a rectangle that is joined when finished.
- I made this scarf long enough to wrap around the neck three times for extra coziness.
- I used acrylic yarn because the winters here are not that cold, but a wool or wool blend would also be nice.
- This scarf works up quickly and is fun to make, you could even make this infinity scarf for handmade gifts.

Stitches Used
For this pattern, you will need to know:
How to make a foundation chain
When making a foundation chain, keep the stitches as loose as possible.
If you don't the foundation chain can be tight and pull the base of the work in rather than stretch with the rest of the pattern.
You could crochet the foundation in the same hook size as the pattern or go up 1-2 hook sizes when making the foundation.
How to make a half double crochet
The first row of the pattern is worked in half double crochet stitches.
How to Make A Half Double Crochet (hdc)
- Yarn over hook (YO), insert the hook from the front to the back of a stitch.
- Yarn over hook (YO) and pull back up through the stitch. You should have three loops on the hook.
- Yarn over hook (YO), and pull the yarn back through all three loops on the hook.
- This completes a half-double crochet stitch.
- See how to half-double crochet with detailed step-by-step instructions.
The second and following rows are worked in half double crochet stitches worked in the back of the loop.
A half-double crochet in the back loop (hdc-blo) is made by making a stitch into the loop at the back of the stitch.
How to identify the Back Loop of a stitch
- When you normally crochet you tend to look at the side of the work. To identify the back loop, look at the row from the top.
- Each of the stitches will look like a "V" laying down with its point, pointing to the left and away from the hook if you are a right-hand crocheter.
- The loop of the "V" that is at the back of the work is referred to as the back loop.
- This single back loop is the part of the stitch you need to crochet into whenever a pattern asks you to crochet into the back loop only.
- In patterns, you will see this term written as BL or BLO which refers to back loop or back loop.
- You may even see it in patterns written listed stitch type for example; dc-blo (double crochet in the back loop only) or sc-flo (single crochet in back loop only).

Note About The Yarn
I used Marvel Denim Effects 12ply yarn, which is equivalent to a #4 - medium (worsted, Afgan, Aran, 10 ply) yarn, 100% acrylic, 3.53 ounces (100 grams) / 185 yards (169 meters) per skein.
However, you can use whatever similar yarn you like, such as Lion brand yarn in wool or acrylic.
