    About This Granny Square Pattern

The lacy daisy granny square is a beautiful and versatile crochet pattern that is worked over five rounds using basic crochet stitches like double crochet cluster stitches, double crochets, and single crochets.

Even though the lacy daisy granny square may look intricate, it is a relatively easy pattern to make.

Because this square is worked over just five rounds, it can be completed quickly, making it an ideal project for those who want to see results fast.

If you like this crochet granny square, you might also like these flower granny squares.

    Lacy Daisy Granny Square

The daisy granny squares pictured on this page were made in an 8ply yarn which, is a light worsted yarn or #3 light yarn. Read more about different types of yarn.

I used a slightly larger hook than recommended on the yarn label to give it a softer feel.

They worked up quickly and measure about 5 x 5 inches (13 x 13 cm) on the diagonal.

This design also looks great when worked in a thicker yarn as I did for this crochet daisy blanket.

    Tips For Making Granny Squares

Tighten the starting ring - If you have used a magic circle to start the granny square, pull it tight to close the center, and securely weave in the end to ensure it does not work itself open in the future.

Be consistent with your tension - Having an even stitch tension will make the square look good, and the squares will be relatively consistent in size.

Count stitches - Regularly count your stitches to catch mistakes early.

Choose the right yarn - When learning to crochet, choose a smooth, medium-weight yarn it will be easier for you to identify stitches and easier to work with.

Block Your Squares - Block your finished squares for a neater, more professional look.

Weave in ends - Weave in yarn ends as you go to save time later.

Read patterns carefully - When crocheting a new granny square pattern for the first time, take your time and read the pattern before starting. This will help you become aware of any new stitches or terms you may need to know before starting the pattern.

Don't stress mistakes - Mistakes happen, don't be afraid to undo and redo a few stitches or rounds if they happen.

    Step By Step

Here are step-by-step instructions for creating this lacy crochet daisy granny square pattern.

At the end of the post, you'll find a shortened free printable pattern for your convenience.

Follow along with the instructions to create a beautiful flower crochet granny square with a delicate daisy pattern.

    Variations

    Multi colored daisy granny square.

Multi-Colored Daisy Granny Square - For a unique look, use different colors for each round of the daisy granny square. As you go, work in the ends to make working the rounds easier.

When starting rounds 4 and 5, instead of slip stitching to the chain spaces of the previous round, attach the new color yarn into the chain space with a slip stitch.

    Solid color granny square.

One-Color Granny Square - This daisy granny square is just as stunning in a single color.

However, after completing round 2, you'll need to cut and fasten off the yarn before following the pattern as instructed in round 3.

Easy Ways To Join Granny Squares Together

Once you have completed multiple granny squares, the next step is to join them together to create a larger project.

And there are many ways to do this, depending on the desired final product and the look you want to achieve.

Here are a few techniques for joining granny squares:

    1. Whipstitch - This simple method use a needle and thread to sew the squares together. The stitches are worked through the back loops of each square, creating an invisible seam on the front.
    2. Single crochet join - This method involves using a single crochet stitch to join the squares together. The squares are held with the wrong sides facing each other, and the single crochet stitches are worked through the back loops of the squares to create a decorative border.
    3. Slip stitch join - This method involves using a slip stitch to join the squares together. The squares are held with the right sides facing each other, and the slip stitch is worked through the back loops of each square to create a decorative ridge on the front.
    4. Join-as-you-go - This method involves crocheting the squares together as you work on each square. This creates a continuous seam that eliminates the need to sew the squares together later.

What To Make With Granny Squares

You can make many different things with granny squares. Here are a few ideas:

    1. Blankets - Combine multiple daisy granny squares to make a cozy and colorful blanket.
    2. Pillows - Join a few granny squares and line the backs with a matching fabric to create a beautiful pillow cover
    3. Coasters - Make smaller versions of the granny squares to use as coasters.
    4. Bags - Use multiple granny squares to create a unique and eye-catching bag.
    5. Scarves - Combine several granny squares to make a beautiful lacy scarf.
    6. Clothing - Incorporate granny squares into a dress, skirt, or top for a unique and fashionable look.
    7. Home decor - Use the granny squares to add a touch of handmade charm to curtains, table runners, or wall hangings.
